Education with mobile simulation training (SIM Mobile) as a response to demands of nursing homes and primary health care

SIM Mobile is a project that enables all nurses at primary care and nonmedical staff employed in nursing homes in Macedonia to have equal access to quality and continuous vocational education and training.
The project includes appropriate equipment of SIM Mobile to run simulations and development of e-tools for high-quality implementation of distance education.

SIM Mobile is a project that will enables all nurses in primary health level and caregivers employed in nursing homes in Macedonia to have equal access to quality and continuous VET. The aim of the project is to improve and consolidate the knowledge and skills of nurses at the primary level, caregivers in nursing homes thereby developing their competencies for collaboration in a team at the primary level and training them to be competent workers providing better patient care and safety. The project includes the development of e-tools for high-quality implementation of distance education (new way of training in which teams strengthen cooperation and their work becomes safer and more efficient). The SIM Mobile unit will conduct a healthcare simulation training program in a safe environment for 1) instructors who will provide SIM Mobile training and 2) primary level and nursing home care nurses and 3) nonmedical staff employed in nursing homes. The training offers a unique combination of lecture-based learning, skills learning and simulation learning..

The Center for Family Medicine was established under the Faculty of Medicine, University “Ss. Cyril and Methodius” – Skopje in 2010, as education and research unit of the faculty, with specific scope of work related to family medicine and holding the Family Medicine Chair of the Medical faculty. Тasks and responsibilities of the Center for family medicine include providing education and training for undergraduate students at 5th and 6th year of medical studies, graduate students at master and doctoral level and theoretical and practical training for residents in family medicine specialization as well as organizing continual medical education for chosen doctors. Also, we are involving in preparing curricula supported by UNDP and running special short training education of medical and nonmedical staff in nursing homes. Center for family medicine is actively involved in reforms of primary health care and nursing education working together with Ministry of health, Health insurance found and Medical chamber, supported by the WHO. The current staff of the Center is 1 Professor and 1 administrative staff employed at the Faculty of Medicine, as well as 100 educators and 80 mentors involved in practical and theoretical teaching. They are distributed in different towns in Macedonia so the education is organized closed to the place of living and working of GPs. In this moment we have two Masters of Sciences, 2 PhD and seven PhD fellows engaged in national and international scientific research projects
