Secondary school of mechanical engineering, transport and traffic at its beginning was the first craft and trade school
founded in Cacak in 1903. During its existence, the school has gone through various changes, but kept its primary aimto
educate students for industrial and craft occupations, ie to train staff for the industry. The school has played a
significant role in the overall development of education and culture, especially in the development of the machine
industry in our city and the surrounding area. After the introduction of new educational profiles in the traffic area in
2003, the school changed its name to Secondary school of mechanical engineering, transport and traffic.
In order to keep up with modern trends and real needs of the environment, the school is included in reformation of
secondary vocational education. Numerous activities and projects conducted in and by the school have further
improved education process. Today, the school can boast the introduction of new educational profiles in various areas
of work and occupations.
Also, the school is included in dual education system with six educational profiles: lathe and milling machine operator,
CNC technician, CAD technician, mechatronics technician, technical designer and locksmith-welder. It is vital to
emphasise the importance of CNC tecnician and CAD tecnician profiles that have been included in dual system this year.
Being so, it is necessary for teachers and in-company trainers to undergo additional training. Although the two profiles
have officialy been listed as dual education profiles this year, the students had practical training in companies in the
previous years too, so the school is ready to deal with any challenges this could bring.
By improving working conditions, professional development of teachers, better cooperation with social partners and
the implementation of numerous school projects, its employees have become the bearers of reform activities of
secondary vocational education not only in our town, but also in the whole of Serbia.
In the school year 2021/22. the school educates 1068 students divided in 40 classes. Students of 14 classes are enrolled
in a three year vocational education, while the rest attend a four year VET. Our experienced staff consisting of 112
teachers successfully performs education process.
The priority in the work of the school is continuous improvement of the quality of the educational process through the
improvement of material and technical working conditions, professional development of teachers and the application
of modern teaching tools. This creates the conditions for students to acquire as much practical knowledge as possible
during their schooling, in order to become easily involved in the work process or to prepare for continuing their
schooling.
In the previous period, a lot of effort was invested in equipping specialized classrooms, cabinets and school workshops.
During the equipping, in addition to the purchase of equipment, thanks to the professional staff and interested
students, the school has created teaching aids that are used for practical training and demonstration in the classroom.
These include: Simulator of the Electronic Engine Control System, the Demo Laboratory for Machine Parts Repair, the
Microcontroller Process Control, the Control Module for Triple Control of CNC Technologies, the Load Emulator of
electric motor and the CNC Milling Machine. All simulators and modern teaching aids made in school were presented
and awarded at the International Fair of Equipment and Tools for Modern Teaching in Belgrade, which established the
school as a leader in making equipment for training students and connecting their theoretical and practical knowledge.
Numerous tools were made in the school, which were used to equip Knowledge Parks, schools and preschool
institutions.
The students of our school achieve exceptional results in competitions and the school stands out with the successful
organization of numerous regional and national competitions. Thanks to the knowledge and skills of its students, the
school was a double winner of the national competitions of machine schools for three-year educational profiles in the
previous years.
Numerous successes of the school have been achieved primarily due to the expertise and experience that school
employees have in the STEAM areas. The bearers of activities in the implementation of these projects are teams of
engineers and teachers with extensive experience in industry. Comprehensive theoretical knowledge in the field of
mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and traffic has been expanded with exceptional knowledge of technique
and technology and modern information technology. Of great importance is the interdisciplinary connection and
connection of knowledge from different fields.
